Myakka Ape

The Myakka Ape is the name given to a figure, with an appearrance similar to an orang-utan, that was supposedly photographed by an anonymous resident from Sarasota, Florida and sent to the Sarasota Sheriff's Department on December 22, 2000 along with a letter. Some believe this is Florida's skunk ape, a biped cousin of Bigfoot, while others think it is actually a real orangutan, and yet others are wholly convinced that it is a clever hoax. The images and letter remain much discussed and debated in part because they contain a mixture of seemingly realistic elements along with some inherent problems.
